LO4: Distinction report

The post production techniques used while compiling my photos for my print product created purpose and meaning. One way i achieved this was through the use of colour correction and the enhancement of the hues and saturation of the images. I did this in order to make the images brighter to make it seem more appealing. This links to Rick Altman's 1999 theory of generic pleasures which states that the audience can feel different types of pleasure from interacting with a media product. There are three responses they could have. These three are either emotional, intellectual or visceral. an emotional response would be something that makes the viewer feel a certain emotion such as happiness or sadness. an intellectual reaction would come from something that makes them think, something clever that they wouldn't necessarily think of on their own. Finally a visceral reaction is often linked with jump scares, it is when you feel an extreme uncontrollable emotion and can also have a physical reaction as well. My product would most likely elicit an emotional response as the images create more aesthetically pleasing image and draws attention while also creating a photo that give of positivity and optimism rather than if they were dull, in which case they would give off a more negative vibe which would not attract the attention of people as well as if it was a more positive vibe. I also cropped some of my images in order to focus more on the subject and remove any things in the background that i didn't like or want in it. For example at the bottom of one one my images was a sweet wrapper and since it was right near the bottom in some blank space i was able to crop it out rather than using the spot healing brush to edit it out. However in one of my other photos i did use the spot healing brush to edit me and georgia out of the image as we were visible in the reflection on the glass. I think it worked well as you couldn't really tell we were there unless you were told and even then it is a bit hard to tell. I did all of this using Adobe Photoshop which made it look more professional as the Adobe Photoshop software is a professional software used by a lot of professional print companies. after editing, I would have exported the newly edited photos as JPEG's in order to add them to my poster and leaflet which would've created in the Adobe InDesign software which much like Adobe Photoshop is a professional software which a lot of professional leaflets and such would have been created. I would have used a bold sans-serif font. this along with the photos would appeal to my target audience which consists mainly of people of all genders, sexualities and cultures aged 16-50. This is because not only are the bright images appealing to everyone as they create a positive emotion but the text is also bold and easy to read which means the most amount of people will be able to read.
